Equity Foundation Welcomes New Development Coordinator, Alan Colley and New Scholarships and Operations Coordinator, Stephanie Ryznar

PORTLAND , OR —Equity Foundation is proud to announce the addition of their first Development Coordinator, Alan Colley, who joined Equity Foundation in June. Alan brings to Equity Foundation years of experience, building relationships at Herman Miller, Inc., Interface Corporation and other architectural design firms. A born-and-bred Midwesterner, Alan graduated from the University of Cincinnati, with a B.S. in Design.

In addition to his business career, he has dedicated a considerable part of the past twelve years to growing the Human Rights Campaign both in Dallas, Texas and in Oregon.

Alan and his partner moved to Portland in 2005 to live where their hearts called home. Alan’s passion for the land, vision and culture of the Pacific Northwest and the strong commitment to community building in Oregon led him to Equity Foundation.

Alan is excited to join Equity Foundation and to forward the work that began 20 years ago to raise the bar of human dignity for sexual minorities. Colley said, “The greatest contribution Equity Foundation has made is to create a community of givers committed to changing the hearts and minds of the people of Oregon about sexual minorities in our state.”

Stephanie Ryznar , a Portland native, says she “is extremely excited to work for such an honorable and reputable cause.” She has previously held posts with the Office of Mayor Tom Potter, where she worked on constituent advocacy issues as well as local business concerns. She has experience with researching and resolving issues for a variety of constituent challenges and enjoys working to explore all kinds of solutions. She also brings office operational know-how to Equity Foundation coming from her most recent position as Office Manager at a motor parts company.

She is currently attending Portland State University with a major in International Studies and a minor in Russian. She plays classical piano, enjoys sewing, frequents Washington Park, is a member of the Pittock Mansion Society, and is an insatiable reader.

“I am very lucky and proud to have such a passionate and talented team of people to bring Equity Foundation to the next level” said Kevin Easton, Executive Director. Alan and Stephanie join Joey Kerns (Grants and Work Place Giving Coordinator) in working to eradicate prejudice towards sexual and gender minorities in Oregon. By working with philanthropic donors and nonprofit partners, Equity Foundation funds change and changes attitudes through grants and scholarship opportunities. Founded in 1989, the Foundation has awarded thousands of grants aimed at grassroots community change initiatives, throughout Oregon. During the last fiscal year, it awarded roughly $400,000 in grants and related programs.
