As I mentioned, home staging has exponentially grown into a big business. For those interested, the "First Annual Northwest Staging Expo" will be held on Sept 13 and the featured speaker will be the author of "Staging for Dummies." More info can be obtained at www.Stagers-LIST.com.
You make a good argument for your business Margaret and I'm sure you're very good at it. As you know, there's a big difference in the cost between a 'consultation' and more broad-based staging-design-furnishing services. My points are meant to be broad recommendations in looking at a myriad of choices available to homesellers, and cannot account for every individual situation.

I read with interest your post on the Do's and Don't of Getting Your Home Ready For Sale. As a Home Stager, yes, this is what I do every day.
The majority of home sellers are unable to view their homes objectively and the assistance we offer them in decluttering, furniture placement, paint colors, maximizing their home's architectural details and so many other selling aspects, is worth far more than what a staging consultation costs. The sellers and realtors we work with are always overjoyed at the improvements we advise and implement.
Our homes sell faster, look better and obtain better selling prices. With 80% of buyers checking out homes online, I can guarantee that staged homes always look more better than a vacant or unstaged home on the MLS. Vacant homes room sizes are often are hard to visualize, especially in photos.
Did you know that 40% of the time a non professional painter is dissatisfied with their paint color choice? Yes - its easy to advise someone to repaint their home - but the correct room color can make a huge difference - especially if the home is vacant. You mention the smaller rooms of the houses you frequently show, but most people like to know how the room looks with a full or queen sized bed in the room. Over and over again, realtors are amazed at how much bigger rooms can appear with the correct staging.
Before you dismiss the value of home staging, remember a great percentage of the population enjoy viewing homes that are clean, decluttered and inviting - home stagers can guide sellers on how of obtain these goals. It used to be we looked at the tiny MLS photos in a big book when we shopped for homes, but times have changed! It's important to get professional help in preparing your home for sale, just like it is to hire a Realtor to professionally sell your home. Both professions work hard to get the job of selling homes done!
