Gay All Stars 19, Portland Police 4
The (Gay) Rose City Softball Association All Stars defeated the Portland Police All Stars 19-4 in a charity game.
The thirteenth playing of the game occured at Farragut Park in North Portland on Saturday, June 14. Fox News was on hand to record the event. Current Portland Mayor Tom Potter spoke briefly at the event, as did openly-gay mayor-elect Sam Adams, who nimbly threw out the first pitch.
The series “score” is now tied at six wins apiece. One year, the game was rained out.
The game benefited Portland’s Q-Center, the GLBT event space started a few years ago by Portland community activists, including Adams. Kendall Clawson, Executive Director of the Q-Center, was on hand to collect more than $1200 in donations, a new record for the game. They donated $200 of that to the Police Cadets, who were also raising money at the game.
