In business for more 25 years, this bar/restaurant is at the center of the gay bar scene. There always seems to be some special event going on here. Try to get a window seat so you can keep an eye on passersby on the sidewalk.

I have gone to Scandals since I moved into Portland 16 years ago, and the NEW place is the best gay bar I have been to in this town, and equals those I have been to in NY of SF! I love the staff and the atmosphere they create- fun, caring, and safe…. Never a concern and never an empty glass (even if it is water).

My mom and I were in the area after seeing a movie at the Living Room Theater and we decided to play some darts and decided to give this place a shot. I had a feeling it may be a gay bar but I wasn’t quite sure and didn’t much care. This is a pretty cool bar, it is well laid out and has a pool table and dart board. Once we walked in we figured out it was in fact a gay bar but that was no big deal. We played a game of darts, had a drink and left. Overall it was a great place but not being gay it would not be my main hang out.

I wish sometimes I worked closer to downtown, one reason is scandals, it is really great as a early evening-after-work joint (though don’t get me wrong the late crowd can be fun too) but this place has attentive staff and is always a great place to plop down to have a drink talk to people people-watch and once in a while get suprise hugged from behind by friends in the neighborhood.

Long a comfortable neighborhood gay bar, this gathering moved up the street and was renovated into a scene-y hotspot. Located near ground zero for gay culture in Portland–this bar still serves up great people watching and a stylish vibe for the diverse mix of people that frequents it–everyone from leather daddies to office workers. Part of the bar is reserved for pool, darts and lottery games.
