Though the dance-happy queens from the “old Silverado” or doped-up dudes lounging in their birthday suits have only been gone from the building less than a year, Portland powerhouse pub factoryMcMenamins announced today it has purchased the old Silverado/Club Portland complex location at the corner of SW 12th and Stark Street, a longtime infamous corner of Portland’s fast-gentrifying “gay district,” Southwest Stark Street, and plans to open an as-yet-unnamed hotel and restaurant in the renovated building as early as winter of 2009.
